Results of the International Congress of Turkic Franchise Associations in Astana

A round table on “International Congress of Turkic Franchise Associations: Prospects and Opportunities for Franchising Development in the Turkic Space” was held on May 22, 2024 in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was organized by the Central Asian Franchising Association, founded in February 2024 under the leadership of Maygarina Gulbanu Esenovna, and the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken”.

In addition to the Central Asian Franchise Association, the event was attended by the Franchise Associations of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Hungary. As well as representatives of government agencies such as the Presidential Administration, key ministries, members of the Senate and Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and experts from the National Institute of Intellectual Property (QAZPATENT). Also present at the roundtable were a number of private consulting companies from different countries, including FRANCHISE CAPITAL.

Signing of the Memorandum and its significance

The main event of the round table was the signing of the first Memorandum of Cooperation between the countries of the Organization of Turkic States. This document is aimed at strengthening mutual support and cooperation in the development of the franchise industry in Central Asia. The signing of the Memorandum opened new perspectives for further development and expansion of business sectors, stimulating economic growth and creation of partnerships.

Impact on business and the economy

Deputy Chairman of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” Timur Zharkenov noted that franchising proved to be an effective tool to support business during the pandemic, and its development in Kazakhstan shows positive dynamics. Over the past year, the number of franchise agreements in the country increased by almost 60%, and about 3000 domestic enterprises are already working in this area. The participation of representatives of government agencies emphasized the importance of cooperation with entrepreneurs and further development of legislation to create a favorable business environment.

Support from state authorities

State authorities, including representatives of the Presidential Administration, members of the Senate and Majilis of the Parliament, supported the initiative for qualitative growth of franchising and investment within the Turkic space. Mr. Maksat Doshoja, Head of Sector of the Socio-Economic Policy Division of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said that the government aims to achieve a twofold improvement in economic performance by 2029, and the development of entrepreneurship is a key source of achieving these goals.

Presentation of “Made in Turan” brand

The second significant event of the round table was the presentation of the “Made in Turan” brand logo symbolizing a new era for the Turkic world. The initiative proposed by the delegation of Azerbaijan was supported by all participants of the meeting. The logo, combining elements of a crescent moon and a horse, reflects the historical and cultural roots of the Turkic peoples, as well as the prospects of a new start for economic and cultural cooperation.

The roundtable was a successful platform for sharing experience and strengthening business ties between the participants. All speakers made their unique contribution to the discussion and formation of new perspectives of franchising in the Turkic space.
